The Center for Human Reproduction in Budva today held a special ceremony to mark ten years of existence during which the expert team of this healthcare institution, together with parents - determined patients, managed to contribute to the birth of more than 1,000 babies in Montenegro.

A large number of families who have achieved offspring in collaboration with the Center for Human Reproduction over the past decade had the opportunity today to socialize and enjoy a rich program organized at the Ethno Village Carević. The youngest especially enjoyed the entertainment with clowns and a magic show.

“We see the joy on the faces of these people who have gathered again, the children are getting to know each other. This sends a message to everyone that we should not give up and that we should continue all efforts, and even if you sometimes do not like the solution we propose, it should be listened to in order to reach the goal. It is important to send a message to everyone that there is a time when reproductive function is at its best, that we should respect nature, and that when we have a problem, we should understand and solve it as soon as possible,” said the founder of the Center for Human Reproduction, Mr. Sci Dr. Tatjana Motrenko Simić.

Motrenko Simić, who after founding and leading the first state IVF center in Montenegro, at the Danilo I Hospital in Cetinje, decided to establish this center in Budva, where she utilizes both knowledge and the most modern technology and equipment, and applies new methods for treating infertility. A quality control and patient safety system has also been established at the center, according to EU recommendations and ESHRE guidelines, which includes daily monitoring of all parameters in the laboratory, as well as treatment outcomes.

“This is the result of that spreading of wings. I think this is very important both for the people living on the coast and for balanced representation in Montenegro since the other centers are in Podgorica and Cetinje,” the doctor stated.

On this occasion, she encouraged patients not to give up.

“It is very important for future parents to understand that it is not shameful to have a problem. No one wanted to have kidney cancer, no one wanted to have psoriasis. These are things that happen. Something that falls 'from the roof' has been taken from you, but that is not a reason to give up; rather, it is a reason to organize better and look at the obstacle in front of you,” said Motrenko Simić.

Support for patients throughout the process was also provided by senior nurse and IVF coordinator Maja Šćekić.

“The approach is important, and you need to reach the patients, understand them, and know how to approach them. The outcomes are satisfactory, and I see that they appreciate the personal approach that our entire team has,” Šćekić noted.

Embryologists play an important role in the process of in vitro fertilization. Embryologist Jelena Popović spoke about the challenges she witnessed.

“From a psychological perspective, it is difficult for couples at first, and then for us who are there to act professionally while also being sensitive to the issue of infertility. It was tough, but together as a team, with various contributions, we managed to achieve a significant result of 1,000 babies,” Popović stated.

Among the parents who shared their joy over the new arrivals and positive experiences of working with the Center for Human Reproduction at today's ceremony was Liset Rios de Kuhar from Peru, who has been living in Montenegro for 15 years.

“Tatjana and her team were phenomenal; they were very professional, especially in moments when you don't know what to expect. This can be a very difficult and sensitive experience, but they were really good. I think you have to overcome the fear because the best feeling is when you have your child, when you see that you are pregnant and can rejoice in that. This is a constant struggle for all of us, but it's great when you succeed,” Rios de Kuhar recounted.

Ivana Mihajlović from Budva also shared her impressions.

“We are extremely satisfied, from the start we had excellent cooperation with the doctor. A lot of support, advice, guidance, and plenty of explanations. I highly recommend it to anyone who finds themselves in a situation where they cannot have children,” said Mihajlović.
