Donation of the deceased

In female patients who have entered perimenopause or menopause earlier due to reduced ovarian reserve (either congenital or as a result of surgeries on the ovaries, endometriosis), in cases of POF (premature ovarian failure), or women of advanced reproductive age with poor quality eggs or where eggs cannot be obtained at all, it is possible to achieve pregnancy through egg donation.

A healthy younger woman, tested for basic genetic diseases as well as transmissible diseases, provides eggs during a controlled ovarian stimulation process, which are later fertilized with the partner's sperm, and the embryo is returned to the partner either in a fresh cycle or after freezing in an FET. If she becomes pregnant, she gives birth to a child who is not genetically hers but is genetically the partner's, while ensuring that the donor has a similar appearance, hair color, and blood type to achieve the greatest possible resemblance. The success rate of such methods is around 50%, but unfortunately, they are still not performed even though they are legally permitted, because Montenegro does not have a registry where all data would be stored.
